  • Hook – 2/2.5 mm
  • Flower Rod – 16 inches 
  • Iron wire – 0.4mm or 0.5mm diameter
  • Stitch marker
  • Darning needle
  • Scissor

  • Double crochet two stitches together – dc2tog
  • Front post double crochet – fpdc
  • Half double crochet – hdc

Step-by-Step Patterns

Flower Petal: (Make 6)

Start by making a foundation chain of 25 stitches. 

Row 1:  work 2 single crochets (sc) into the 2nd chain from the hook, then 2 half double crochets (hdc), 14 double crochets (dc), 3 hdc, 2 sc, and 3 sc in the last stitch. Without turning, continue on the other side of the chain: work 2 sc, 3 hdc, 14 dc, 2 hdc, 2 sc, and finish with a slip stitch (ss).

Row 2: ch1 and add iron wire. Then, work 2 sc in each stitch, followed by 2 sc, 2 hdc, 1 dc, and 2 dc in each stitch. Continue with 4 dc, 2 dc in each stitch, 5 dc, 3 hdc, 4 sc, and make a picot stitch (sc, 2 chains, sc). On the other side of the chain, work 4 sc, 3 hdc, 5 dc, 2 dc in each stitch, 4 dc, 2 dc in each stitch, 1 dc, 2 hdc, 2 sc, and 2 sc in each stitch.

 Finish with a slip stitch, cut the yarn, and leave a tail for wrapping. The flower petal is complete. Repeat this process to make a total of six petals.

Leaf (Make 1):

  1. Foundation Chain: 30 chains.
  2. Row 1: Add iron wire. Work 2 sc in the 2nd chain from the hook, then 2 hdc, 20 dc, 2 hdc, 2 sc, and 3 sc in the last chain. On the other side of the chain, work 2 sc, 2 hdc, 20 dc, 2 hdc, 2 sc, and finish with a slip stitch (ss).
  3. Row 2: Chain 1, sc 30, make a picot stitch (chain 2, sc in the same stitch), sc 29, and end with a slip stitch. Cut yarn and leave a tail for wrapping.

Stamen (Make 6):

  1. Cut a 6-inch (15 cm) piece of iron wire. Wrap yellow yarn around the wire starting at 2 inches (5 cm) for 1 inch (2.5 cm).
  2. Fold the wire in half so the yellow yarn ends line up.
  3. Wrap the two wires together with green yarn for 1 inch (2.5 cm), then cut and tie a knot.

Assembly:

  1. Prepare the Stem: Cut the rod in half and set one half aside. Use the stamen’s yarn tail to wrap the yarn around the other half of the rod. Cut the yarn and secure with hot glue.
  2. Wrap Stamen: Take the set-aside rod and wrap the flower stamens around it with green yarn, keeping the yarn attached.
  3. Attach Petals: Wrap each flower petal one at a time around the stem, over the stamens. Once all petals are wrapped, continue wrapping the stem until all ends are covered.
  4. Add Leaf and Bud: Attach the leaf by wrapping it around the stem until the tail end is covered. Add the flower bud, wrap it around the stem, cut the tail, and finish with hot glue at the end.
